Birds and Mythology
April 11, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Rising above the earth and soaring through the skies, birds have been symbols of power and freedom throughout the ages. The relationship between birds and humans can be traced back to our earliest stories. In many myths and legends, birds link the human world to the divine or supernatural realms that lie beyond ordinary experience. Birds play a central part in some creation myths and frequently appear as messengers of the deities. They are tricksters, oracles and are often associated with the journey of the human soul after death. Birds also represent strength, wisdom and love.
Learn about birds represented in mythology across the globe and how their roles and meaning have evolved into their modern form. Wine and cheese will be served.
